چکیده

A liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) method is developed for the fast, high throughput quantitation of acrylamide in drinking water using online sample extraction coupled with the Agilent liquid chromatography/mass selective detector time-of-flight (LC/MSD TOF). The limit of quantitation of 0.25 μg/L meets the World Health Organization guideline for the maximum safe level concentration of acrylamide in drinking water at 0.5 μg/L. In addition to sensitivity, justifying the advantage of using time-of-flight mass spectrometry, is the demonstrated specificity with mass accuracy of 6.4 ppm and reproducibility with standard deviations to three or more decimal places. Introduction The acrylamide monomer (see Figure 1) is a component of polyacrylamides, used in the water industry as a coagulant, and particularly in drinking water treatments to aid water clarification [1]. Determination of Acrylamide in Raw and Drinking Waters Application However, the acrylamide monomer is a well-known neurotoxin and genotoxic carcinogen, so its presence in drinking water could have a negative impact on human health. Determination of Fluoride in the Bottled Drinking Waters in Iran

Fluoride is recognized as an effective agent for dental caries prevention. Generally, the main source of fluoride intake is drinking water. In this study, fluoride content in 18 commercial brands of bottled waters was investigated. Six samples from each batch of 18 Iranian commercial brands of bottled waters were supplied. The fluoride content of samples was analyzed by Fluoride Ion Selective E...

Identification of Cryptosporidium species and genotypes in Scottish raw and drinking waters during a one-year monitoring period.

We analyzed 1,042 Cryptosporidium oocyst-positive slides (456 from raw waters and 586 from drinking waters) of which 55.7% contained 1 or 2 oocysts, to determine species/genotypes present in Scottish waters. Two nested PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) assays targeting different loci (1 and 2) of the hypervariable region of the 18S rRNA gene were used for species identificatio...

Determination of Acrylamide in Selected Types of Iranian Breads by SPME Technique

ABSTRACT: Acrylamide is a chemical compound that has been widely used since the last century for various applications. It is also formed from carbohydrate and amino acid containing foods by application of heat particularly in fried potato products, coffee and bread. Since bread is one of the primary foods of Iranian people, the determination of acrylamide content in bread might be considered im...

Preconcentration of acrylamide with dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction based on solidification of floating organic drop prior to determination by HPLC

A novel, rapid, simple and sensitive dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction method based on the solidification of floating organic drop (DLLME-SFO) combined with high performance liquid chromatography-ultra violet detection (HPLC-UV) was used to determine acrylamide in potato chips. The derivation of the acrylamide happened in the presence of KBr, KBrO3, H2SO4. Based on studies, 1-undecanol w...
